About Us

Nest in the Rockies was founded by Robert Pomerleau and Martine Gagnon. Originally from Beauce in Quebec, Robert discovered the Canadian Rockies and the city of Canmore during a cadet camp in 2000. He was seduced by the place, and promised to live there one day. In 2002, he meets Martine and it is love at first sight. They married 2 years later and crossed Canada for their honeymoon. Martine fell in love with the mountains and the region. They plan to settle in the area in 2009. Life had other plans for them. With 3 children under the age of 3, they decide to settle in Beauce in order to have some family support. They build a house with the idea of going to the Rockies for a year, sometimes later. During a "road trip" in 2011, Martine proposes July 2014 as the starting date. New goal that is realized exactly on the scheduled date. On July 1, the family begins its journey in their Ford Flex, trailer at the back containing their belongings for the next year. Without work and without accommodation, they set off on a 40-day camping trip in a tent with their 3 children. Due to the lack of available housing, they acquired a 2-bedroom condo in Canmore where they lived for 6 months. Afterwards, they move into a house and begin the adventure of owning a vacation rental. From the start, their condo is very popular on VRBO and Airbnb rental sites. They pay close attention to the details and meet the expectations of their guests. Subsequently, owners require their services to manage their properties, thus increasing the supply available. In 2020, Nest in the Rockies was created on the basis of a company that established itself as a leader in the holiday rental industry. What was supposed to be a one-year stay eventually turned into a great adventure to meet and share this love story with the Canadian Rockies. Today, Robert and Martine share their passion for the mountains with their guests to help them make the most of their stay.
